Listening to Unearthed – Part II feels like being invited into a private moment rather than presented with a finished statement. This is not an album that tries to impress on first contact. It waits. It listens back. It asks for time. BC25’s second chapter in the Unearthed series carries the quiet confidence of music that knows exactly what it is and refuses to become anything else.

At the heart of the project is an act of care. Producer and writer Barbonus works with unfinished cassette recordings left behind by a close friend decades ago, and the album never lets you forget that responsibility. These pieces are not polished into something louder or more contemporary. They are approached gently, almost cautiously, as if every decision has to earn its place. That restraint gives the record its emotional weight. Nothing feels forced. Nothing feels overwritten.

Vela Sorell’s vocals deepen that sense of trust. Her performances do not sound like interpretations of the material so much as responses to it. There is an ease to her delivery that feels honest rather than casual, as if she is following the shape of the music instead of leading it. You get the sense that each take was chosen for how it felt in the moment, not how it might register technically. That choice matters here, and it shows in the intimacy of the final result.

What stays with you after the album ends is the way it treats memory. Unearthed – Part II does not frame the past as something distant or fixed. Instead, it allows it to shift, soften, and breathe. Tape hiss, gaps, and unresolved moments are left intact, not as stylistic decisions, but as reminders that incompleteness can still hold meaning. The album feels less like a reconstruction and more like a continuation, as if these songs were simply waiting for someone to sit with them long enough.

This is not a record built for distraction or background listening. It rewards attention without demanding it. Unearthed – Part II feels personal without being confessional, quiet without being empty. It is an album about listening closely to sound, to silence, and to what remains when nothing is rushed.
